5 Great Reasons to Try Cannabis Today

Big Pharma's Unwholesome Entanglement

An Unwholesome Entanglement” is what one Columbia medical professor called the Sackler Family’s new dangerous business model in the 1950s. Still his concerns were dismissed. The 2020 book Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty by Keefe is an extensively researched historical look at the family.  The unwholesome entanglement  is the business model that led eventually to the current OxyContin Crisis.

However, this medical professor was one of few vocal critics of this new model at the time. OxyContin started being prescribed to the public in 2000 and since then the overdose has risen every year. 2017 overdose rates are five times what they were before OxyContin was on the market.

We will never have a medical system we can believe in when we mix money and medicine.

Price-Gouging: Another Reason Distrust Big Pharma

Price-gouging and other illegal anti-competition tactics are used frequently in the US market when there are no generic forms of the drug on the market.  US prices are usually three to five times what they are in the E.U.

EpiPen is a life-saving medication needed for someone having an allergic reaction. Between 2009 and 2016 the  Mylan pharmaceuticals company increased the price fifteen times from $50 to $400 because there was no other generic form of the drug.  Recently this happened again with the toxoplasmosis was raised five thousand percent increase.

So, my other big reason to try cannabis was it helped me contribute less to Big Pharma’s illegal and immoral activities.

Police Begin to Support Marijuana Reform

Cannabis Users Saved 165.2 Milion in Prescription Costs

The third reason is that last year in 2020 over 50 police officers urged Congress to pass the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment Expunging Act which would provide resources to expunge police records and provide money to those injured by the War on Drugs.  A good sign that police officers are starting to get on the right side of this debate.

The fourth reason you should try cannabis is that more people are substituting cannabis for more harmful prescription medications, alcohol, and tobacco. Another study from the University of Georgia looked at the costs of Medicare’s prescription drug benefit program in 2013 over 17 states and found cannabis use saved $165.2 million in prescription costs due. If cannabis is legal, prescription drugs and alcohol companies’ financials will continue to suffer.

Many Anectdotal Positive Personal Experiences With Cannabis

We would all love to go to the doctor and trust 100% the doctor’s judgment, but it is just not the world we live in.  Doctors are humans, and there are many reasons they give us wrong answers, ignorance, ego, money, pressure, etc. We need to constantly triple-check what they have told us is right or get two or three opinions, thinking about whether advice makes sense and why someone might be lying.

I have been a patient for my whole life suffering from mental health issues and struggling to find help, but also thriving once I found help from Cannabis. This blog will be my personal experiences, information, and resources including cannabis links and recommendations.
