Humboldt Apothecary’s owners have twenty-five years as herbalists making high quality products from plants that they incorporate into their California Cannabis and Hemp CBD products. This is an online company only, no dispensary, focusing on healthy ways to consume cannabis.
They only make tinctures or tablets, topicals, no other edibles, vaping, no flower or buds on their own because these are the healthiest way to consume. Types of Products
Everybody’s body responds differently to cannabis, including CBD. CBD is non-imparing so it won’t affect your functioning-just enhance it. The only way to know how you will react is to try it. Hemp Products
They make two Hemp CBD-only tinctures. The daytime tincture is called, Hemp CBD. The nighttime Hemp CBD PM contains also contains CBN, another compound found in the cannabis plant that helps you relax and sleep better. California Cannabis: Products With THC
Tablets
They also make California Cannabis that they don’t sell on their website but through licensed local dispensaries in California. There is a link to find dispensaries near you if you live in California. They make two high THC tablets for different purposes. The Indica Tablet is for night time and the Sativa is a daytime product that does not make you sleepy but still has a lot of psychoactive effect. Each tablet has 10 g of THC and 0g of CBD. I use a similar product at night, and it works great.
Topicals
Topicals go on the outside of your skin so they are always non-impairing no matter how much THC they contain. Humboldt Apothecary has a Wintergreen CBD Stick and Juniper CBD Balm. A balm is a little more like a lotion and might be easier to rub into the skin, but sticks are great for traveling and less messy. You don’t need to stick your fingers into the ointment but can put it directly on the skin. Both of these have a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC which is the best for inflammation and pain.
Tinctures
Humboldt Apothecary makes three different tincture lines Botanical, Sweet Jane, and Terpene Rich with various ratios of CBD: THC and have the largest selection of tinctures in California. Tinctures are great because they work quickly within a few minutes and have a full effect within the hour, but they also wear off within an hour or two. Tinctures have a marked dosing on the bottle but you do need to remember to shake it well each time which is something that you don’t have to do with tablets or edibles.
Sweet Jane Tinctures
The Sweet Jane line is most basic line available with nothing added but a little peppermint oil and stevia. The tinctures don’t all taste great to me, but this one is smooth with not a lot of after taste and easy to mix with other things. They have drink recipes on the website so that you can use them in more social situations.
The numbers refer to the ratio or amount of CBD to THC in the ratio and they list the bigger compound on the label. For example 20:1 CBD would mean 20 parts CBD to one part THC. They make a 20:1, 4:1, 2:1, 1:1. and one with only THC. The 20:1 ratio is one of my favorites for daytime anxiety/depression. It has zero psychoactive effect for anyone, even me but it works better having all of the compounds working together. I feel focused and awake with the 20:1, not jittery or groggy-medication feeling.
The Sweet Jane THC contains only THC, and it helps me to fall asleep most nights easily. The Sweet Jane 1:1 is an excellent place to start if you have had bad reactions to THC in the past. I started with just ONE drop a night, and then after a few days, increased to two and then gradually got up to the total dose amount. You are not trying to get the tincture to work at this time but just trying to sensitize your body slowly.
Hand-Crafted Symptom Based Tinctures
Terpene Rich has a coconut oil base instead of an alcohol one. The Terpene Rich tinctures have one called Rest with only THC, Lavender, Bergamot, Sweet Marjoram and Roman Chamomile. Relax CBD is 3 to 1, Lavender, Basil, Bergamot, Sweet Orange, and Vitamin E. Uplight CBD is a 1 to 1 ratio with Lemon, Rosemary, Peppermint and Vitamin E. Love Potion No. 7 has all THC, Damiana, Cinnamon, Kava Kava, Cardamon, Roasted Cacao Nibs, Vanilla Bean, and Stevia.
Botanical Tinctures
The Botanical line has one called Deep Sleep which is only THC, Lavender, Passionflower, Hops and Skullcap. I like this one a lot. It might have helped me sleep better than the Sweet Jane pure THC, but it can be a bit strong tasting.
Breathe has all THC and Elecampane, Mullein, Yerba Santa, Devil’s Club, and Peppermint oils that help relieve congestion at night. Another tincture is called Brain Topic, and it contains a 1:1 ratio and rosemary, Gotu Kola, and Ginkgo essential oils that help with memory and focus.
Calm CBD is a three parts CBD to one-part THC tincture that contains Skullcap, Lemon Balm, and Passionflower. All plants help with anxiety or stressful feelings. The last one is Inflammation CBD, which is 3:1 and contains Jamaican Dogwood, Meadowsweet, Turmeric, Black Pepper, and White Willow Bark.
Drinking Bitters is a seasonal all THC plus Angelica, Gentian, Orange Peel, Cinnamon, and Cardamom-perfect for a Fall drink.
